Längenfeld is located on 1200 m above sea level in the middle of the Ötztal. More than 20 km green, juicy meadows extend in the wide valley amongst the mountains of the Ötztaler and the Stubaier Alps and under the bright blue sky.

Perfect for walking-tours

The variety of hiking-trails around Längenfeld offers you endless walking-tours in the valley as well as trails in the Ötztaler or Stubaier mountains. Something is found for every taste within the 150 km of well marked hiking-trails. Marvellous walking-tours through the colourful fields, panoramic trails with unforgettable views or mountain hikes on the surrounding peaks – you can do everything in and around Längenfeld – it is really a paradise for walking-tours.

A popular mountain hike is to the Luibiskogel (3110m). The ascent is on the North and on the North side. Starting on a well-maintained hiking-trail the tour takes you through a sparse forest until you arrive in a broad high valley. This high valley ends with the Hauerkar. Furthermore you walk over the Hauerkarferner. Although this glacier doesn’t have any crevasses, the final ascent is quite difficult. After the exhausting walking-tour you enjoy the wonderful view even more.

Perfect for mountain biking and cycling

Due to the great improved trails and routes for mountain bikers, more mountain bikers come to the Ötztal every year. In the surrounding of Längenfeld you can find 40 km of mountain bike-trails and routes.

The signposted biking-trails lead to the nice landscape and mountains of Tyrol.
The distance and level of difficulty is shown on the signs of every single route.

A unique speciality is the "Ötztal Trail". You start at the beginning of the valley on 500m above sea level, the tour ends after 75 km on about 2000m above sea level in Obergurgl. Various routes offer the opportunity to make a detour. No matter, whether with or without detour - the “Ötztal Trail” is not only especially challenging, but also with several spectacular impressions of the great mountainside.

Pure relaxation only

The “Aqua Dome” in Längenfeld offers an extensive in- and outdoor programme for the guest. The warm water of the “Fountain of the mineral spring”, the “Ursprung Spa Dome”, has a temperature of 34°C and 36°C. The “Activity Pool” and the “Underwater fitness equipments” offer a unique work-out experience. Behind the panorama glazing you can gaze at the fantastic mountains while practising water sports.

A cascade and the relaxation rooms make sure that a sense and atmosphere of well-being arises.

Outside you can enjoy yourself in the whirlpool. In the “Brine Pool” and the “Liquid Sound Pool” – the bathing experience is enhanced with underwater and overwater music and light effects – you can get away from everyday life easily.

Perfect for climbing
If you want to fly at higher game, try the two fixed rope routes near Längenfeld. It’s a great adventure for real climbing-fans. The “Lehner-Wasserfall-Klettersteig” (it’s nearby a cascade) is easier than the ”Reinhard-Schiestl-Klettersteig“. Experience 160 m difference in altitude of the fixed rope tour on the generous set hangers and step treads. Finally there is the highlight: An overhang with a decline of 30°.The fixed rope route offers not only a physically challenge, but also fantastic views of nature and environment over and over again.

The “Reinhard-Schiestl-Klettersteig” is one of the absolute classic in Tyrol and is an outstanding challenge. However the difficult route is constantly maintained and offers enough protection to overcome the 250 m difference in altitude.

for both fixed rope routes is a complete climbing equipment.

Places of interest in the surrounding area

Stuibenfall in Umhausen

A nice walking-tour takes you to the magnificent Stuibenfall, a footbridge brings you quite near to the attraction. On the further path you get the possibility to see the waterfall with a different perspective. A visit to the close-by located “Ötzidorf” is recommended.

“Ötzidorf in Umhausen”

The sensational discovery of the “Ötzi” in 1991, an alpinist from the 4th century B.C., is the headstone of the “Ötzidorf”. You get interesting information about the life of “Ötzi” in the Neolithic, presented in an authentic way.

Church of pilgrimage Maria Locherboden

The pilgrimage church is situated on a small hill amongst the Mieminger mountain range. After a miracle healing the Gothic church was built. Today the pilgrimage church Maria Locherboden is still a popular destination

Alpine Coaster
The alpine Coaster, the longest Alpine roller coaster of the world, offers fun for the whole family. The summer toboggan-run takes you through the exciting panorama of Imst. An absolutely highlight surely is a run through the snow-covered mountains in winter.

“Minors´ village”/Knappenwelt

The “Minors´ village“ in Tarrenz is an adventure park, in which you can imagine the life from the minors anno 1400. In historically accurate reproductions of the houses, the guides explain the life and work of the minors. This park is perfect for families because the tours are extremely fascinating for kids.

Obernberger See/Obernberger lake

The Obernberger lake is situated in the Obernbergtal, a tributary valley of the Wipptal. Around the lake is an area of outstanding natural beauty. An absolute must is the visit of the chapel “Maria am See” - it is located on an island in the lake. Another highlight in winter is the toboggan run, which takes you to the Obernberger lake.

Patscherkofel

The "Olympic mountain" Patscherkofel offers a marvellous panoramic view at the Oberinntal, Unterinntal, Innsbruck, the Karwendelgebirge and the Stubai Alps. You should also have a look at the Alpine flower-garden. Situated next to the top station Patscherkofel on 2000 m above sea level, the flower-garden shows the variety of plants of the Alps.

Ambras castle – an art-historical castle

The art-historical castle “Schloss Ambras” is located above the provincial capital Innsbruck. Its cultural and historical significance is inseparably linked with the personality of Archduke Ferdinand II. (1529-95), a true “Renaissance prince”, who was an enthusiastic patron of arts and science. The “Spanish Hall” is amongst the most beautiful halls built during the Renaissance. It was constructed according to the requirements of Archduke Ferdinand II and it was meant to be a hall for balls and other festive occasions.

Church of pilgrimage “Heiligwasser”

On 1.234 m above sea level the pilgrimage church “Heiligwasser” is located above Igls. It is named after a spring, which rises nearby. The church is also very popular for weddings and baptisms.

Abbey Maria Waldrast

The abbey is located above Matrei, near the pass “Brenner”. The legend says, that a portrait of Maria was seen on a tree and a farmer built the pilgrimage church on this place in 1429. Today the so called “Altar of Tyrol” is a popular sight and even a mountain bike route leads to the abbey.


Tiroler Unterland

Achensee

The “Achensee” is located approximately 400 m above the Inntal. The lake has 9.4 km in length and 1 km in width. It was used as a route of transport already in the 19th century due to its´ geographical position. Nowadays you can have a day out on a wonderful boat trip.

You can take a steam rack railway to go to the Achensee. In former times it was used for transport and now the ancient railway locomotives from Austria are shown there. A journey with this steam rack railway is not only a historical experience – the magnificent views are amongst the most beautiful of the Tiroler Unterland.

Felsenkloster St. Georgenberg

The abbey was built on a rock in 1138 and belongs to the religious order of the Benedictines. It is the most important place of pilgrimage in Austria. The pilgrimages at night, which take place on every 13th of the month from May till October, are very popular. Courses in meditation and spiritual exercises are also offered.

Museum Tyrolean farmhouses
13 farmhouses from the North, the South and the East of Tyrol were relocated to the open-air museum in Kramsach. The farms are totally equipped and authentic with different appertaining buildings, for example lumber mills etc. Chapels and Stations of the Cross were also relocated in the museum. Even an old school was rebuilt there.

Planetarium Schwaz

“To be nearer to sky” – that was the vision of Carl Zeiss, when he designed the first   projector to watch the stars. The planetarium in Schwaz is an educational institution for with attractions for everybody. It is a special destination for families.

Schloss Tratzberg

The castle of Stans is in private property of Ulrich Graf Goess-Enzenberg. In the 15th  century it was a border to Bavaria. The castle was destroyed later in a fire, the impecunious emperor Maximilian could not afford a reconstruction, but exchanged the ruin for a castle of the Tänzels, wealthy owners of a silver mine. They had built the first late Gothic part of today´s Castle Tratzberg in1500, in a particularly magnificent way, with artful ornaments made of marble, wood and iron.

Nowadays it is a popular destination for families with little children because of their fairy-tale like and exciting tours.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds” (in Wattens)
A water-spouting Giant that magically lures visitors into its interior, where Chambers of Wonder ignite beacons of imagination, has managed to become a globally-recognized work of art. The subterranean experience-world of Svarowski offers an unbelievable variety of colours, sounds and geometrical forms. Private views often take place there, accompanied with chamber music.

“Spectacle of nature Wolfsklamm” (in Stans)

A spectacle of nature is the “Wolfsklamm”: A gorge that takes you more than 354 steps passing waterfalls, mountain rocks and the Stanser Bach to the direction of St. Georgenberg. You have a wonderful panoramic look at the surrounding mountains. After the marvellous walking-tour a visit of the abbey “St. Georgenberg” is recommended.
